| Qualifications | Individuals with a background in a specific technical field who have experience in the translation of patents and related documents Individuals with experience in the following Technical Fields are invited to apply for this position: 1. Chemistry, Biotechnology, Medicine, Pharmacology, etc. (Japanese to English Translations) 2. Electronics, Machinery, Semi-conductors, Software, etc. (Japanese to English Translations) |
| Additional requirements | Freelance translators may apply for this position * In some cases, applications for only Japanese to English translations are not accepted All applicants who wish to work as a freelance translator must meet the following conditions: 1. Applicants must be accessible at any time during our business hours (9:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday) 2. Applicants must have an e-mail address designated for translation work 3. Applicants must have a FAX machine capable of receiving at least 50 pages of A4-size paper (exceptions may be made depending on the circumstances) |
| Application procedures | Please provide the following information by sending or faxing it along with your resume and a sample of your work (if available): 1. A telephone number, fax number or e-mail address at which you can be contacted during our business hours 2. A designated e-mail address for translation work 3. Your desired workload 4. Your translation experience (e.g., Japanese to English, English to Japanese, or both) 5. Your preferred technical fields 6. Your word processor and version number (e.g., MS-Word 2000 or later) 7. A list of any translation software you use 8. If possible, submit a sample of a translated patent specification, including claims Application documents Your resume and a photo of yourself * Applicants who are unable to submit a sample of their work will be requested to take a trial translation evaluation. |
